Eline Vonk is a 28-year-old painter from Enschede, the Netherlands. Being attached to places and memories, those are important themes in her work. The high personal nature of the moments of “letting go” and a strong attachment to the world around her brings a melancholic sense into her drawings and paintings. This heaviness is then countered through use of absurdity, humour and irony. Text also plays a big role in her work, in a poetic, funny or seemingly meaningless way. All these things come together, sometimes in one painting, more often in the combination of different works. All in all it is a little window into her ‘silly’ world.
